Allan Bussard tells of a lady he has met in their trips to Ukraine :

Before the war, the journey from her home in Kindrativka to the Russian boarder took just eight minutes. Seventy-eight year old Larisa never imagined she would be forced to leave. “Our house was destroyed by Russian attack drones. My daughter was killed, burned alive,” she says quietly.

In July 2025, Larisa’s village was attacked. She was injured by a drone and spent several months in hospital. Her home, where she spent her entire life, was burned to the ground, along with all she owned.

Today, she lives in a transit centre for displaced people in Sumy. She serves as a volunteer, providing meals, “For those who have suffered more than I have.” Her story is a testament to the hope that endures in the face of unimaginable loss

The fifth war-time winter is rapidly approaching in Ukraine. We are preparing for to provide lifesaving food support for people like Larisa. If you would like to contribute to this, please contact us.
