From our ministry – Dariusz & Dominika Wit

Many people today are surrounded by contacts and yet feel alone. A phone full of chats can still leave someone without a single friend to call when life gets hard. Late in the evening, tired or lonely, it is easy to reach for the screen instead of a person – and sometimes the screen leads to content that hurts us and the people we love.
In our work of discipleship and personal support we meet this again and again: among teenagers, young adults and people well into their forties and beyond. We believe the way out is not only to say “no” to what harms us, but to say “yes” to real relationships. As Ecclesiastes puts it: “Two are better than one … If either of them falls down, one can help the other up” (Ecclesiastes 4:9–10).
What is Matehood?
Matehood is a phone app we are building to help people grow real friendships and move out of isolation. Our motto is simple: Matehood – log out to relationship.
- It reminds you of the people who matter. Matehood gently nudges you to get in touch with a friend you haven’t spoken to for a while.
- It helps the conversation start. It suggests simple questions, so talking to a friend is easier than another hour of scrolling.
- It helps friendships grow over time. Small, regular moments of care build trust – the kind of friendship you can lean on.
- You don’t face temptation alone. When something harmful online pulls at you, a friend can help you keep the decision you have already made.
Matehood is not a social network to spend more time in. Its goal is the opposite: less time with the screen, more time with people.
Blocking harmful and distracting content
Matehood also protects your phone. It blocks harmful content – such as pornography, gambling or violence – and the distracting things that steal hours from us, like endless feeds and games, at the times you choose. The protection covers the whole phone, not only one browser, so it is not switched off with one click in a weak moment.
The key difference: you are not left alone with your decision. You can always add a new block yourself, but removing one needs a friend. When you ask, one of your mates can unlock it for a few minutes – and that short moment of contact is often exactly what helps.
How you can help
The app is not public yet. Right now we are choosing its graphic style, and we would love your opinion. Take a look at a few designs and vote for the one you like best – it takes about a minute.
Please feel free to pass the link on to friends – the more voices, the better. We would also be grateful for your prayers: for wisdom in the decisions ahead, and for the people Matehood will one day reach.
You can support us. Matehood is built by a small team, without investors. If you would like to help us cover the costs of development and servers, you can support the project on Ko-fi: ko-fi.com/squeevio. Every gift, even a small one, makes a difference.
Thank you for being part of this with us – through your support, your prayers and your friendship.
